Synctoy iconAs you may know, I created my own private cloud / icloud – miCloud. I personally prefer to host my data on my own. In conjunction with my iPhone and iPad I really love the app File Explorer with an FTP access to my private iCloud and SkyDrive, Dropbox, Box.net and Google Drive connection. So I transferred all my data from the PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) to my private iCloud. But on the one hand I want to have direct access on my PC, on the other hand I want to backup my data.

miApple.me icon big 1Today I’ll give you an updated survey about my personally owned Apple products. There were some significant changes… 😉

First, on September 23, I switch from my iPhone 4 (32 GB) to a new iPhone 4S (64 GB). The speed improvement is really significant, especially if you use apps like iPhoto. Further more, I wanted to see how “Siri” works. But after testing for a while I’ve got the opinion that you can only use it if you are alone in a room because this will irritate other people if you are speaking, but not with them… 😉

I personally used FingerPrint up to the date I purchased a HP Photosmart 7510 with integrated AirPrint function. The reason for doing this was not to find in FingerPrint but in the anoying low speed of my Acer Aspire 1810T running with Windows 7. Beside this, the computer must be permanently switched on because the printing jobs run over the PC. But it is a cheap alternative to AirPrint capable printers for iPhone or iPad users ($19,95 per license).

Norman Antivirus logo

Norman Antivirus 10 logoNorman what? Yeah, it’s really true: Most people are mixing up Norman AntiVirus with Norton. But these are two different things. I’ve been using Norman AntiVirus for years and I have been never ever infected by any computer virus or other malware. To me it is the best spyware program!

iCloud logo

iCloud logoI have already written about some issues of getting iCloud (email, calendar, tasks, contacts) running on different mails apps in Windows 8. Up to now, I had only succeded in getting it solved for Outlook 2013 Preview and the Windows 8 mail app. I had got the issue that iCloud email and calendars are shown in Outlook 2010, but not my iCloud contacts and tasks.

Update: How To Sync iCloud Calendar With Windows 10 Calendar App
Windows 8 logoSome days ago I describe a solution to set up iCloud email in Windows 8 mail app. Setting up the iCloud calendar in Windows 8 mail app is not that easy and only ‘read only’ is possible. The solution is to subscribe to your own iCloud calendar in your outlook.com or Windows Live account. Syncing Google Calendar (Gmail) with Windows 8 mail app via ‘read only’ is also possible: Setting Up Google Calendar Syncing In Windows 8 Calendar App.

Windows 8 logo“AirPort Extreme can turn your external USB hard drive into a drive you can share with all the users on your network and access securely over the Internet. This feature — AirPort Disk — is a simple and convenient way to share files among everyone in your family, office, or class. How does it work? Just connect the external hard drive to the USB port on the back of your AirPort Extreme and — voilà — all the documents, videos, photos, and other files on the drive instantly become available to anyone on the secure network, Mac and PC users alike.” – Well, that’s the Apple Theory, but on the Windows reality it is not that simple…
