Do you face the problem which iOS explorer you should choose? There is a huge number of so-called NAS, FTP, Cloud or file managers / explorers for iPhone and iPad. But which are the best FTP – NAS – ‘Private iCloud’ Apps? I spent all lot of time and money in finding the right explorer. Finally, I got the right one and, in the later, I will tell you which one!
A few days ago I received the following email from FastVoip, a VOIP provider I use (VOIP and Fritzbox 7170 combined with Fritzbox 6360 cable):
“Dear Valued FastVoip user/reseller,
FastVoip is writing to let you know that we will no longer be providing service starting October 1st, 2012. From September 1st 2012, you will no longer be able to add credit to your account.
Update: iStorage 2 HD 2.4: Universal File Manager and FTP App for iPhone and iPad
In contrast to that I wrote some days ago, FTP on the Go isn’t still the best app for managing my private iCloud / cloud to me. Yesterday I found something better: iStorage! There are two apps, one for the iPad (iStorage HD, version 2.0) and one for the iPhone (iStorage for Cloud, version 1.5.13, version 2.0 coming in August this year). What impressed me was that I’m now able to manage my NAS together with Dropbox, box (not yet iStorage for iPhone) and WebDav-Access in one single app.
So I transferred all my data from the PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) to my private iCloud. But on the one hand I want to have direct access on my PC, on the other hand I want to back up my data. To my disappointment, Windows 7 Home Premium does not have the function to access offline folders and files, meaning no sync center!
Yesterday I received the brand new Airport Express Base Station(3rd generation, MC414Z/A)! The main advantage in contrast to the precessor versions is an additional 100 MBit/s ethernet LAN port. Yes, it is not a 1GBit/s ethernet LAN port! In the first instance, I was somehow disappointed, but I checked the transfer rates with my PC from and to my ‘My Book Live’: 12 MB/s from and 6 MB/s to the My Book Live. That’s OK to me.
FingerPrint automatically discovers all printers connected to your Mac or PC and makes them available to your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. For a fraction of the cost of a new printer, FingerPrint breathes new life into the printers you already own. Further more, no jailbreak or hack is needed.
Did Microsoft downgrad your SkyDrive storage from 25 GB to 7 GB, too? Then read this! I’m using SkyDrive [Update: now it is called ‘OneDrive‘] for a long while, it was my very first cloud storage and I primarily used SkyDrive to share photos with my family and friends. And what was cool with SkyDrive, was the free 25 GB of cloud storage.
Update: PhotoSync 2.0 review
I must admit that I undervalued PhotoSync (universal app for iPhone and iPad) for the first time some months ago. Photostream and iCloud were just released and I thought that Photosync was redundant. Further more, I was upset that the Windows companion was crushing all the time, so I uninstalled the PhotoSync Windows companion (in the mean time I’m convinced that the reason for that was the same as described here).
Hi folks, on May 17th I reported about connection problems of iMessage and facetime. In the mean time my friend was at my home with her iPad and we checked it out: factime and iMessage was working without any problem with my WiFi!
For me it is the proof that the source of that problem must have something to do with a specific WiFi and its settings in conjunction with iMessage and facetime.
Shrinking of the ebay summary page is really anoying. It seems to be a problem between Safari and ebay. Up to now I collected some acceptable solutions to be able again to see these ebay-pages in “normal” size. My personal favorite is number 2 because it is on the one hand a quick solution and on the other hand I want to keep Safari because of the iCloud synchronisation of the Safari favorites (compare with 3.) and I want to see the complete summary page (compare with 4.):
