Last week Apple released 2 updates: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and the small update for Apple TV 6.0.1. PlexConnect is still running on Apple TV 6.0.1 (2nd and 3rd generation) as reported in the plex forum. The same is reported there for Mac OX X 10.9 Mavericks. I checked it on my own and I can confirm it for my Acer Aspire 1810T running on Windows 8.1 Pro and my MacBook Pro 13” (Mid 2012) running on Mavericks. However, I had to re-install both the Windows and the Mac OS X certificate on my Apple TV 3.
At the first try after installing Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks I could get PlexConnect running on my Apple TV 3 (‘Trailers are unavailable’). I immediately check it on Windows 8.1 Pro. Same result!
I connected my Apple TV 3 to my MacBook via the iPhone Configuration Utility and found no certificates installed. I don’t know why the certificates weren’t there, but I guess it happened with the Apple TV software update 6.0.1 because after installing the previous version 6.0 PlexConnect was still running on my Apple TV.
I upgraded both from Windows 8.1 Pro Preview to Windows 8.1 Pro and from Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion to Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, but I cannot image how this would have affected the certificates on my Apple TV.
Hence, I had to re-install both the Windows and the Mac OS X certificate on my Apple TV 3 following these instructions:
- For Mac OS X: PlexConnect On Windows 8 And OS X 10.8.4: Plex Media Server On Apple TV 2 And 3 Without Jailbreak
- For Windows: Installing PlexConnect On Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 After Apple TV Update
I installed both the Windows and the Mac OS X certificate (the original ones I created at the first time on Windows 8.1 Pro preview and Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion) on my Apple TV 3 and PlexConnect was running again both on Windows 8.1 Pro and Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks!
Stay tuned! 😉
