On August 3, 2015, Apple released Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan beta 6  (build number 15A244d, “pre-release”). I positively tested it with an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV 7.2 software. Find more about Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan on Apple’s Website. In contrast to beta 2, beta 3 and beta 4, I had not to re-install OpenPlex. There seem to be no big changes to beta 5.

On July 30, 2015, Apple released Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite beta 2 (build number 14F19a, “pre-release”). I positively tested it with an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV 7.2 software. In contrast to beta 1, I had to re-install OpenPlex. Referring to the release notes, the Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite beta 2 update improves the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac. The focus areas are the Mail and Photos app. There seem to be no big changes to OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite.

Referring to the release notes, the Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite beta 1 update improves the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac. There seem to be no big changes to OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite.

Fixing El Capitan Gmail bug in Mac OS X 10.11 mail app

You can fix the El Capitan Gmail bug for Google’s Gmail IMAP accounts following this work around. It is the same as for OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.10 Yosemite and and macOS 10.12 Sierra.

Recover lost admin rights on OS X 10.10 and 10.11_allow user administer this computer

OS X 10.11_El Capitan icon 256x256If you lost your administrator rights on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, macOS 10.12 Sierra or macOS 10.13 High Sierra, you can recover the admin privileges easily by rebooting into Apple’s Setup Assistant tool. This will run before any accounts have been loaded, and will run in “root” mode, allowing you to create accounts on your Mac. Then, you can recover your admin rights via the new administrator account. After that, you can reboot into your recovered admin account and delete the interim administrator account.

Referring to the release notes, the Mac OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite update improves the reliability of your Mac. The focus areas are Photos, Migration, Arabic and Hebrew. There seem to be no big changes to the latest beta.
