There are a lot of different Airplay apps for Mac and Windows PC. I tested Reflector App 1.5.4 on Mac OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion and Reflector 1.2.3 on Windows 8 Pro, AirServer 1.1.2, AirParrot 1.1.3 and Airfoil 3.3.2 on Windows 8 Pro.
Further more, I’ve already reported about a small, but capable app called ‘Shairport4w’. Now Frank Friemel released Shairport4w version 1.0.5.1 on March 5th, 2013.
The latest version contains:
- a fixed bug #17 (crash in case tray text gets too long)
- a fixed bug displaying wrong remaining time for very long playing streams
- an additional “now playing” option-switch to tray-context-menu
- an improved multimedia control panel
- some eye candy
Shairport4w 1.0.5.1 is running perfectly on Windows 8 Pro like the predecessor did. Obviously, Frank Friemel is planning to release a version of Shairport4w for Windows Media Center and Xbox Extender soon… I’m looking forward to that release!
Beside these Windows Airplay Mirroring apps, try MacShairport or ShairportMenu, if you are looking for a similar app like Shairport4w on your Mac.
