Plex, PlexConnect and OpenPlex (beta 0.2.5) are running on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite beta 7, positively tested both on an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV 6.2 software and on an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV 7.0 software (beta 4). Though, Apple published Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite beta 7 with build number ’14A343f’ on September 2, 2014, a new iOS 8 beta version and Apple TV 7.0 software beta version were not released, as expected by experts.
Note: The latest Apple TV 7.0 software (beta 4) is only available for Apple TV 3 3rd generation (Model number A1427 – AppleTV3,1 – MD199LL/A) and Apple TV 3 3rd generation rev a (Model number A1469 – AppleTV3,2 – MD199LL/A). This could mean that the final Apple TV 7.0 software will only work on Apple TV 3 (3rd generation) and newer. 😉
Openplex 0.2.5 is available for download. Here’s the changelog:
- Beta app pushed to stable state
- Theme switching implemented (removes need to delete plexconnect folder prior to choosing/switching theme)
- Restart included in restore all (starts plexconnect when settings are restored)
- Two step process to install plexconnect if certs/settings backed up – (choose/switch theme, restore all)
- View current storeFront file that aTV uses to load apps (home screen)
- Various bug fixes and optimization
The menu of OpenPlex 0.2.5 got a complete redesign and is much more user.friendly:
Hijacking Trailers app, iMovie Theatre and WSJ app works on Apple TV 6.2 software. However, hijacking iMovie Theatre on Apple TV 7.0 software (beta 4) gives back an error (KeyError: ‘baseURL’):
21:37:24 XMLConverter: XML_ExpandLine – Error in {{URL(:/PMS(shared)/library/sections)}}
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “/Applications/PlexConnect/XMLConverter.py”, line 653, in XML_ExpandLine
res = getattr(CommandCollection, ‘ATTRIB_’+cmd)(src, srcXML, param)
File “/Applications/PlexConnect/XMLConverter.py”, line 1072, in ATTRIB_URL
res = g_param[‘baseURL’] # base address to PlexConnect
KeyError: ‘baseURL’
It seems that this is not contributed to PlexConnect because accessing the standard iMovie Theatre is also not working. Otherwise, Trailers app and WSJ app operate successfully on Apple TV 7.0 software (beta 4).
If you are new to PlexConnect then follow the work around to get PlexConnect running on your Apple TV 2 and 3:

- For Windows: Installing PlexConnect On Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 After Apple TV Update and PlexConnect on Windows: How To Hijack iMovie Theatre Or WSJ Instead Of Trailers App

I am very delighted that Plex, PlexConnect and OpenPlex are still running on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite beta 7 without any issues!
Stay tuned! 😉
