Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite icon

Plex icon with Apple TV logoPlex (v0.9.11.0, October 12, 2014), PlexConnect (v0.5, December 14, 2014) and OpenPlex (beta 0.5, March 13, 2015) are running on Mac OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite beta 4. On March 16, 2015, Apple released Mac OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite beta 4 (build number 14D105g, “pre-release”). I positively tested it with an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV 7.1 software and Apple TV 7.2 beta 2 software. 

Mac OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite adds the awaited new Photos app and the WiFi issues seem to be resolved with beta 4 at last!

Plex LogoPlex on Windows 10 is working with out any issues. Plex Media Server is easily installed and set up on Windows 10 in the same way as it is done on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 (details in the following). For the ones who haven’t already known Plex: The free Plex Media Server organizes all of your personal media and streams it to all of your devices like Apple TV (via iOS AirPlay or via PlexConnect), iOS devices (iPad, iPhone), Macs / MacBooks, Windows PC, Windows Phones, Android Phones and many more. You’ll find a detailed feature overview of Plex Media Server here. To get started, you’ll need to download the free Plex Media Server.

Similar to Apple TV 7.0.3, the Apple TV 7.1 software is only available for Apple TV 3rd generation (Model number A1427 – AppleTV3,1 – MD199LL/A) and 3rd generation rev a (Model number A1469 – AppleTV3,2 – MD199LL/A). This means that the Apple TV 7.1 software will only work on Apple TV 3 (3rd generation) and not on Apple TV 2 (2nd generation).

Although it is proved that iTunes 12 is running on Windows 10 (technical preview), the number of users reporting issues with iTunes on Windows 10 is permanently increasing. And the pattern seems to be the same as it is on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1: Either installation problems or crashes are reported. But you don’t need to be desperate: iTunes 12 crashes and installation problems on Windows 10 can be fixed following the workarounds already described for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

Similar to Apple TV 7.0.3, the Apple TV 7.2 beta software is only available for Apple TV 3rd generation (Model number A1427 – AppleTV3,1 – MD199LL/A) and 3rd generation rev a (Model number A1469 – AppleTV3,2 – MD199LL/A). This means that the final Apple TV 7.1 software will only work on Apple TV 3 (3rd generation) and not on Apple TV 2 (2nd generation).

Despite it is officially only compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, SyncToy 2.1 is also working on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. SyncToy 2.1 is a free application that synchronizes files and folders between locations, e.g. network drives and Windows PC. Typical uses include sharing files, such as photos, with other computers and creating backup copies of files and folders.

This means that the final Apple TV 7.0.2 software only work on Apple TV 3 (3rd generation) and not on Apple TV 2 (2nd generation).
