Exactly six years after I got addicted to the Apple world (my first Apple product was an iPhone 4), I can again look back to a very exciting and successful year 2016. After the increasing 1st year2nd year3rd year and 4th year, the 5th year of miapple.me was a year of consolidation. less posts, more content. 4 Years Of Blogging: miApple.me – Tech.Blog’s 4th Anniversary

miApple.me icon 2015_RGBSince today, I have been blogging for four years and this is my 346th post on miapple.me -Tech.Blog! I published my first blog post “My First Apple Anniversary on January 21st, 2012!” on miapple.me on January 21st, 2012. Exactly five years after I got addicted to the Apple world (my first Apple product was a iPhone 4), I can again look back to a very exciting and successful year 2015. Although the second year of miapple.me and the third year of miapple.me were more successful that I would have ever expected, the 4th year was even pretty better. I will give you a summary about the last year in the following.

PlexConnect Still Works On Apple TV Software 6.0 Beta (5.4 Seed 3, iOS 7) After Update

Update: PlexConnect Running On Apple TV 6.0 Update
Update for windows 7,8 and 8.1: Installing PlexConnect On Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 After Apple TV Update
Plex LogoOn August, 27, 2013, Apple released a ‘silent’ update on Apple TV. Apps for Vevo, Weather Channel, Disney, and Smithsonian Channel were added. Together with these new apps, the update broke the option to run Plex Media Server via PlexConnect on Apple TV 2 and 3 (Apple TV 1 was never supported by PlexConnect). However, Paul Kehrer published immediately a tweak to get PlexConnect working again on Apple TV 2 and 3. I followed Paul’s tweak and I got PlexConnect working again both on an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV software 5.3 and an Apple TV 3 running on Apple TV Software 6.0 Beta (5.4 seed 3, iOS 7) after the latest Apple TV update.

Update: PlexConnect Still Works On Apple TV Software 6.0 Beta (5.4 Seed 3, iOS 7) After Update
Plex LogoI’ve already posted about the major update to Apple TV Software 6.0 beta. Beside the new features, I was keen on knowing if PlexConnect will still run on Apple TV software 6.0 beta. PlexConnect, a brilliant solution to get Plex running on an Apple TV 2 or 3 without jailbreaking the device, works on Version 5.3 and 5.4 beta.  I tested both the Mac OS X and the Windows version for another time on my Acer Aspire 1810T running on Windows 8 Pro and my MacBook Pro running on OS X 10.8.4 with my Apple TV 3: PlexConnect still works perfectly on Apple TV software 6.0 beta (5.4 beta seed 3).

iOS 7 Beta 4: Apple TV Software 5.4 Seed 3 Becomes Major Update To Version 6.0

Apple TV LogoOn July 29, 2013, Apple released, together with iOS 7 beta 4, the new Apple TV Software beta 3. In the release notes it is named 5.4 Beta Seed 3, but after updating my Apple TV 3 I found in the section ‘About’ documented that it is in real Apple TV Software 6.0 (6646.16.1). It seems, that together with iOS 7, the Apple TV will get to a major update to version 6.0 (The predecessor beta was named 5.4 on the Apple TV).

AirPlay: Fixing AirParrot Sound And Video Problems on Windows 7, 8 And 8.1 Preview

AirParrot logo bigHalf a year ago I reported about performance problems of AirParrot 1.1.3 on Windows 8 while AirPlay mirroring the PC’s screen. And I’m not the only one who faces this annoying “features” of AirParrot on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 Preview. Just have a look at the comments on the above mentioned post. However, two commentators of miApple.me, called ‘bickbadger’ and ‘Arde’, provided two separate fixes for that problems. I tested it with AirParrot 1.1.6, using a Acer Aspire 180T running on Windows 8.1 Preview with Windows Media Center installed and an Apple TV 3: And it works for me, if I combine this two fixes!

AirPlay: Reflector App 1.5.4 Running Perfectly On OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion

Reflector App IconSome weeks ago I reported about my findings on running Reflector app on Windows 8 Pro. Reflector app doesn’t run perfectly on Windows 8. So do other AirPlay mirroring apps like AirParrot and AirServer.
Since last Friday I’m a happy and pride owner of a MacBook Pro 13″ (Mid 2012) with a Intel Core Duo i5 2,5GHz processor running on OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. 🙂
