FingerPrint automatically discovers all printers connected to your Mac or PC and makes them available to your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. For a fraction of the cost of a new printer, FingerPrint breathes new life into the printers you already own. Further more, no jailbreak or hack is needed.
I personally use, an at least ten year old, HP “psc 2210 all-in-one”-Printer in conjunction with FingerPrint 2.1 in my private Network without any trouble. In contrast, the FingerPrint Version 1 was not so stable as Version 2.1. It has often happened that my iPhone or iPad could not connect to or find the printer. But this issue is solved in version 2.1. An important news for users who have already bought version 1 there is a pricewise option (60% off) to update from version 1 to version 2.
Beside the AirPrint functionality, there are some very useful additional printing options:
- Print to pdf (means sending to a pdf-printer like PDFCreator)
- Print to XPS Document Writer (if installed)
- Open on my PC (as a pdf-file)
- Send to OneNote (if installed)
In principle FingerPrint is able to air print to any printer installed at your Mac or PC, it doesn’t matter if it is a real printer or a virtual printer.
