AirServer Icon

AirServer IconSome months ago I tested Airserver 1.1.2 on Windows 8 with less success. AirServer 1.1.2 has been running unsteadily on Windows 8 Pro with too many connection breakdowns. Now there are two new versions released: Airserver 1.1.8 and Airserver 1.9 beta. Here are my findings, tested with my iPhone 4S and iPad 4th generation: The stability is improved, but from time to time you got still some connection breakdowns again. However, the number in total is less. The transfer speed of AirPlay mirroring is still good. It seems to me that AirServer needs less memory and CPU power of my Windows 8 PC as AirServer version 1.1.2.

AirServer IconAfter reviewing AirParrot (AirPlay mirroring from Mac / PC to Apple TV 2 and 3) and Airfoil (Airplaying music and sounds from Mac / PC to AirPlay enabled devices and vice versa) on Windows 8, today I tested AirServer intensively on my Acer Aspire 1810T running on Windows 8 Pro with Windows 8 Media Center. It seems that AirPlaying videos and mirroring iPhone’s or iPad’s screen on Windows 8 is a hard job for apps like AirParrot and Airserver. Airserver faces similar stability problems like AirParrot. Both are running unsteadily on Windows 8.

Airfoil iconThis January becomes the ‘Month of AirPlay’ at miApple.me: Three days ago I wrote an article about AirParrot, an app for AirPlay mirroring MAC or Windows PC screens. At least two further articles about AirPlaying apps are planned. Today I review Airfoil for Windows 3.3.2, an Windows app for AirPlaying music or sounds (!) from a Windows PC to AirPlay Devices like iPhone, iPads,…. There’s an Airfoil for MAC, too. The installation is simple, just downloading and installing as administrator. Keep in mind potential Windows fire wall issues. In my case there were no issues.

After I had installed Windows 8 on my Acer Aspire 1810T, I was very excited testing iTunes on Windows 8 because some reported issues with it. But up to now I can only report positive results:

iOS 6 icon

iOS 6 iconAs I reported some days ago, I got severe problems in updating my iPad 2, especially with iTunes: Updating iOS 6: No Luck With Troubleshooting iTunes Match Problems

I tried it in a lot of different ways, but I was not lucky in finding a solution… But the user ‘PatFig’ in the Apple discussion forums found a solution.

iOS 6 iconYesterday I updated my iPhone to iOS 6 without any problems. But with updating my iPad I faced some issues concerning the iTunes Match respective the iPod music app: No album covers, no real songs, but thousands songs with “0:00” Playing time. I tried it in different ways. There were no solutions. I googled for a while, but all offered solutions I found recommended to recover the iPad with the iCloud-backup. But this was a solution I did not really want to try….

Facetime icon

Facetime iconHi folks, on May 17th I reported about connection problems of iMessage and facetime. In the mean time my friend was at my home with her iPad and we checked it out: factime and iMessage was working without any problem with my WiFi!

For me it is the proof that the source of that problem must have something to do with a specific WiFi and its settings in conjunction with iMessage and facetime.

iTunes 11 iconFor a couple of months I’ve faced the problem of white pages in iTunes. Each time I opened the iTunes Store on my Windows 7 64 Bit PC (acer aspire 1810T), I got a white iTunes Store page (same to iTunes Match pages). After awhile only a few pictures arose, most of them did not, showing only a “?” instead of a picture. This trouble began with iTunes 10.x, so far I remember. I tried to downgrade to iTunes 9.x, but it showed then the same failure.
