Enpass: The Best Password Manager For iPhone, iPad, Mac And Windows

Update: Enpass 4.0.0 Update Adds New Custom Fields And Label Editing
enpass iconEnpass (formerly known as ‘Wallet X’) is the best password manager for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), Mac OS X and Windows (running on Windows 8.1) in regard to cost-performance based on my personal findings: 1Password has much more functions, but it is much more expensive (Mac version $49,99 EUR, Windows version $49,99, iOS version $17,99). SafeWallet is free, but there is no Mac companion available. Enpass has a flat design in all versions.

The Mac and Windows versions are free for a limited time. Enpass versions for AndroidWindows Phone and Blackberry are also available, but yet I did not test Enpass on these platforms.

Enpass for iOS:

The iOS version 3.0.3 is universal (iPhone and iPad) and costs $4,99. There is also a lite version of Enpass, which is for trial purpose only and allows you to store only up to 10 items.

Enpass for iOS lite version:

No longer available (Update).

Enpass 3.0.3 for iOS (full version):

Here are some screen shots of Enpass for iOS:

Enpass 3.0.2 for Mac:

Enpass for Mac has the similar flat design like the iOS app. There is a Dropbox and iCloud sync option, too.

Enpass 3.0.1 for Windows:

Enpass for Windows has the similar flat design like the iOS app and the Mac app. Enpass for Windows is not a native Windows 8 app, but it is perfectly running on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.  There is only a Dropbox sync option. For syncing iOS and Mac devices with a Windows PC Dropbox sync has to be activated.

More details for all versions can be found on the FAQ page of Enpass.

Disadvantages of Enpass:

  • no browser add-ons
  • no editing of field names
  • no custom fields
  • sometimes syncing issues (close app and open it again to restart the syncing process)

Advantages of Enpass:

  • Flat design
  • Version for iOS, Mac OS X, Windows (running on Windows 8.1), Windows Phone, Android, Blackberry
  • iCloud and Dropbox sync, including cross-platform syncing

Taking everything into account Enpass is one of the best password managing apps, especially, because of the multi-platform versions. If the makers of Enpass will add browser add-ons, the possibility to edit field names and add custom fields, Enpass would be the perfect app for many people. What is your opinion about Enpass? Let us know and comment!

Stay tuned! 😉
