Getting Unlimited OneDrive Cloud Storage With Office 365

Unlimited OneDrive Cloud storage for Office 365 subscriptions was recently announced by Microsoft on its OneDrive Blog (October 27, 2014). All Office 365 customers will get unlimited OneDrive storage at no additional cost, but to date, only Office 365 Home, Personal, and University customers can queue the line. Unlimited OneDrive storage for Business customers will come for the First Release customers in 2015.

In the following, you will get information about the OneDrive features, the Office 365 plans, and where to buy Office 365 plans for less money. Last, but not least, I will show you how to get unlimited OneDrive cloud storage.

OneDrive features:

For getting all information about OneDrive visit its homepage and its FAQs. 15 GB OneDrive storage is free. The maximum upload file size is 10 GB. The number of files you upload is unlimited, except for OneDrive for business user it is limited to 20,000 files.

Furthermore, you can earn extra storage:

• +3 GB Earn an extra 3 GB of storage when you backup your camera roll.
• +5 GB Refer a friend to OneDrive and both of you will receive +500 MB. Refer up to 10 friends for a maximum of 5 GB.

  • 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage,
  • for 1 PC or 1 Mac and 1 tablet and 1 phone (e.g. iPhone and iPad),

• Office 365 Home:
  • 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage for up to 5 users,
  • for up to 5 PCs or 5 Macs and 5 tablets and 5 phones (e.g. iPhone and iPad),
  • including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access.

How to get Office 365:

The are two options to get Office 365 plans. Either you buy the Office 365 plans directly from Microsoft or you look for cheaper alternatives… 🙂

• Office 365 Personal: $6.99 per month, $69.99 per 1-year-subscription (£5.99 / 7,00 EUR p.m., £59.99 / 69,00 EUR p.y.)
• Office 365 Home: $9.99 per month, $99.99 per 1-year-subscription (£7.99 / 10,00 EUR p.m., £79.99 / 99,00 p.y.)

How to get unlimited OneDrive cloud storage:

1. Choose an Office 365 plan (personal or home) and login to Office 365.

   

2. Go to ‘Services and Products’ / ‘OneDrive’ and connect your OneDrive account to Office 365.

   

3. Optional, you can install Office on your Mac or Windows PC.

   

4. Optional, you can activate your Skype 60 world minutes of calling per month to 60+ countries.

   

   

   

5. Then you will see that your OneDrive storage increased by 1 TB.

   

6. Next go to subscribe on the waiting list for unlimited OneDrive storage (Office 365 users only 😉 ).

   

7. You will receive a confirmation screen. Wait and see… ;-). Note: I’d been waiting since December 12, 2014.

   

8. Receive the unlimited OneDrive cloud storage confirmation: Upgrade to 10 TB at first. If you exceed the 10 TB, write a request email for more storage to onedrive@microsoft.com. I received my confirmation on December 19, 2014, one week after I subscribed to the waiting list. Note: Unlimited storage for household members is not guaranteed!

   

Unlimited OneDrive cloud storage can be accessed by making an Office 365 Personal or Home subscription. At first, you will get an upgrade to 10 TB, more storage after request per email. Up to now, OneDrive, in conjunction with an Office 365 plan, is the cloud service with the best cost-performance-ratio.
