Update: Fixing iTunes 11.1.4 Windows Installations: Apple Support Document released
If you can’t install Apple’s latest iTunes 11.1.4 update (download) because iTunes installation fails and causes crashes, you can fix this problem by deleting all corresponding iTunes files and programs and re-install it. It seems that mainly Windows 7 (beside Vista and XP) is affected, not Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. I can confirm the later, I was able to install iTunes 11.1.4 on my Acer Aspire 1810T running on Windows 8.1 Pro without any issues.
This crashes are really annoying, but installation is mandatory because iTunes 11.1.4 contains both security improvements and accessibility improvements. The official release note is displayed during installation of iTunes 11.1.4:
“This version of iTunes improves accessibility, including better support for closed captions and subtitles. This update also adds the ability to see your Wish List while viewing your iTunes library, improves support for Arabic and Hebrew, and includes additional stability improvements.”
If installation of iTunes 11.1.4 fails, one or several common failure messages are shown:
- “Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.”
- “MSVCR80.dll is not found. Re-installing will fix this problem.”
- “R6034 – An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the apps support team for more info.”
- “iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.” (Windows Error 1114)
For Fixing the iTunes installation crashes you need to delete all corresponding iTunes files via de-installation of all corresponding programs. The fix works as follows:
- Go to ‘Control Panel‘, ‘Add or Remove Programs‘ (Win XP) or ‘Programs and Features‘ (Later).
- Remove all of these programs in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
- Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting ‘Run as Administrator‘.
- For more details see also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
Now you should be able to get correctly installed iTunes 11.1.4 on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1. If you still fail, just check the following two post for resolving it:

Bom, tenho um DELL Inspirion, e recentemente atualizei para o Windows 8.1 e o Iphone não é reconhecido pelo Itunes.
Fui seguir um tutorial da Apple e quebrei minha máquina. Agora, depois de recupera-la, instalei novamente o Itunes, e novamente ele não reconhece o Iphone. 🙁
Hi Carlos,
try to de-install iTunes COMPLETELY (and the other Apple junk) and re-install iTunes following this instruction.
Cheers

I’ve uninstalled everything in that order, restarted, and now iTunes will not download! I can’t get to the step of right-clicking the installer. I can click the download button and something flashes on the screen (too fast for me to see what it is), but iTunes is not downloading at all.
Hi VShaw,
just to clearly understand it: Did you reboot your PC? Have you downloaded the latest iTunes version from the official Apple website?
Cheers,
Gee Are
