GoodReader 4 icon

GoodReader 4 iconGoodReader 4, the next generation of the well-known PDF reader and iOS file manager app, was released on May 7, 2014. GoodReader 4 is a complete new and now universal app for iPhone and iPad. This means you need to purchase GoodReader 4 as a new app, even if you have already bought GoodReader for iPhone and or GoodReader for iPad. But don’t worry, there is a migration assistant to move your files and settings from the old version to the new GoodReader 4. It works like charm within seconds or minutes depending on the total size of your files. Further more, GoodReader 4 adds a new feature – PDF Page Management.

iStorage iconiStorage 2 HD 2.4 is a universal file manager and FTP app for iPhone and iPad. Since my first review about iStorage 2 HD on June 24, 2012, iStorage 2 HD was much improved and got a universal app. The last update 2.4.1 was released 8 months ago on September 3, 2013. Therefore, I was interested if iStorage 2 HD still fits my requirements on iOS 7.

Documents 5 icon

Documents 5 iconDocuments 5 by Readdle is a complete redesign of the well-know file manager for iOS, Documents by Readdle. The main new features are the new design in iOS 7 flat style, the optimised file manager with drag&drop and add-ons for integration other Readdle apps (for iPad only) like PDF Expert 5 for iPadScanner ProPrinter Pro for iPad and PDF Converter for iPad. The support of Windows shares (SMB) to access computer (Windows PC, Mac) and Apple’s Time Capsule have already been added with Documents 4.4.

FileExplorer icon 204x204FileExplorer 4.0 update adds new gestures and file transfer and syncing options. FileExplorer 4.0 is a useful file manager for iPhone and iPad for organising cloud services, NAS drives and for remotely accessing your Mac or Windows PC. FileExplorer has been my favourite file manager until Cloud Commander for iOS was released.

FileExplorer icon 204x204FileExplorer, one of my favorite file managing and FTP app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, became a minor update to from version 3.0.0 to 3.1.0 on November 13, 2013, and mainly fixes the incompatibility to Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Further improvements are now an official Windows 8.1 and a Western Digital NAS support. Details about FileExplorer can be found on my latest review on FileExplorer.

Cloud Commander icon

Cloud Commander iconMy review on Cloud Commander 3.6.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch comes to the result that Cloud Commander is the best file manager and FTP manager for my private cloud / iCloud, cloud services, FTP (NAS), SMB (Windows, Mac, Time Capsule) I’ve ever tested. Additional, you can get Cloud Commander for Mac and Cloud Commander SkyDrive Edition for Mac (supports SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro / Sharepoint 2013).

PhotoSync App LogoAs you may know, I really like PhotoSync App, especially, because of the high-speed photo file transfer and the excellent and free Windows PC (running on Windows 8) and Mac (running on OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion) companions. Today PhotoSync 2.0 for iPhone and iPad (universal app) was released. I intensively tested the new version: It’s a big step ahead!

Update: PhotoSync 2.0 review

PhotoSync App LogoPhotoSync has been one of my very first file transferring and syncing apps. I’ve already reported about PhotoSync eleven months before (with special focus on the settings!). But how is PhotoSync 1.7.2 app doing right now? Almost perfectly: The PhotoSync Companions are running stably both on Windows 8 (version 1.6.4 released on November 22, 2012) and OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion (version 1.6.1 released on September 4, 2012). Further more, the universal iOS app for iPhone and iPad does what it should do (version 1.7.2. released on December 28, 2012). Last but not least, you got a big number of cloud services you can access via PhotoSync app. 🙂 But I could not connect PhotoSync to a Time Capsule. 🙁

Update: iStorage 2 HD 2.4: Universal File Manager and FTP App for iPhone and iPad
iStorage iconIn contrast to that I wrote some days ago, FTP on the Go isn’t still the best app for managing my private iCloud / cloud to me. Yesterday I found something better: iStorage! There are two apps, one for the iPad (iStorage HD, version 2.0) and one for the iPhone (iStorage for Cloud, version 1.5.13, version 2.0 coming in August this year). What impressed me was that I’m now able to manage my NAS together with Dropbox, box (not yet iStorage for iPhone) and WebDav-Access in one single app.
