Update: iTunes 12.3 Compatible To Windows 10
Update: iTunes 12.2 Compatible To Windows 10
Update: Fixing iTunes 12 Crashes On Windows 10
iTunes 12 is not only running on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, but iTunes 12 is also compatible to Windows 10 Technical Preview. The system requirements for iTunes 12 for Windows are a PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor, 512MB of RAM, 400MB of available disk space and Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store. It seems that there are no additional prerequisites needed, as it is for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 systems, e.g. the Windows 8 Media Center.

iTunes 12 compatible to Windows 10 Technical Preview
Here’s how to proceed the iTunes 12 installation on Windows 10 Technical Preview:
- Download iTunes 12 and save the file ‘iTunes64Setup.exe‘ on your hard drive.
- After downloading open the folder where you save the file ‘iTunes64Setup.exe‘. Make a right mouse click on this file and push ‘Run as Administrator.

Installing iTunes 12 on Windows 10 Technical Preview_01_Run as Administrator
- After allowing iTunes to access your PC, the ‘Welcome to iTunes’ screen appears. Click on ‘Next‘.

Installing iTunes 12 on Windows 10 Technical Preview_02_Welcome to iTunes
- On the ‘Installation Options’ screen select all options and click on ‘Install’.

Installing iTunes 12 on Windows 10 Technical Preview_03_Installation Options
- Then the installation process begins. This can take a while. Wait and see. 🙂

Installing iTunes 12 on Windows 10 Technical Preview_04_Installation Processing
- Check that iTunes is installed in the correct folder: …\Program Files\iTunes and NOT …\Program Files (x86)\iTunes (Kudos to AppleBlossom27!)
- Optional, after the installation has finished, you need to add manually iTunes 12 to the task bar or pin it to start screen.
- Open iTunes 12 and enjoy… 😉
I’m really delighted that iTunes 12 is compatible to Windows 10 Technical preview, running in dual-boot on my old Acer Aspire 1810 T with Windows 8.1 Update installed parallelly. What are your findings? Let us know and comment!
Stay tuned! 😉

Hi, I did follow exactly your steps ,but I am still not able to get iTunes running on Windows 10.
I get an error, it says:
Microsoft.VC80CRT ,type=”win32″ ,version=”8.0.50727.6195″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b” ,processorArchitecture=”amd64″. HRESULT: 0x80073715.
Can you help? I really don’t know, what to do.
Thank you.
Hi Ruth,
have you already checked this post: https://miapple.me/fixing-itunes-12-crashes-on-windows-10/
There’s another post mentioned, which I recommend to you:
Deinstall all iTunes components and then install iTunes.

Hi Gee, Thank you for your tips and advices, but I give up…. I followed every step, every link, you posted, I did reboot more than 20 times I spent now over 10 hours to find a way to install iTunes back on my laptop after upgrading to windows 10. I get always the same error message:
Microsoft.VC80CRT ,type=”win32″ ,version=”8.0.50727.6195″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b” ,processorArchitecture=”amd64″. HRESULT: 0x80073715. ,
” the iTunes Helper could not get started error 2 (windows 2),”
when I ignored the error the program would install , when I try to open it says APPLE APPLICATION SUPPORT WAS NOT FOUND … error 2. and so on…always the same, then I clean and delete all the files from APPLE in the order you said, and check in Program Files , that nothing is there and reboot again …. and start from the beginning…. and again the same…..
The bad thing is I have some programs that ONLY work with iTunes, that’s why I am so devastated … I don’t know what to do. Is there a way to fix this? I can’t go back to windows 7.
Thank you.
Ruth
Hi Ruth,
this is really annoying. I’m sorry that nothing worked.
I got two last suggestions: Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) and try to install iTunes again.

Hey there.. After lots of updating, searching, reading for a few days coming up dry and everything I read seemed to be really complicated just to fix something that may not work and could keep itunes from never working and who knows what it would do to windows, lol.. I decided to tinker around my computer and figure out where everything was being downloaded with the new system. I was on windows 7 64bit and so it turns out 2 things were wrong. my norton was blocking a lot of stuff with it’s SMART FIREWALL GRRRR and Itunes somehow got installed in the wrong folder (program 86x). everything showed up including my phone just nothing could be accessed. I basically just uninstalled and reinstalled in the drive c program folder and made sure all the drivers got cleaned (when you unplug and re-plug in they just add on then can get confused :()up and updated and downloaded right, that bonjour was running (that was the issue with the update for the last windows 7 grr along with a missing snap in)… and everything else with itunes and after i ignored the firewall and restarted notebook. I got my itunes back up and running with my phone connected and synced to it can update!!!!! YAY.. My home group up and all device connected to it, my plug and play is working and my network address isn’t being blocked anymore lol. So in case no one has checked to see where theirs has downloaded you may want to. just make sure your compatibility box in unchecked for all itunes and bonjour service. not sure if this will help anyone, but since mine is up and running and i didn’t tweak anything, didn’t add anything, didn’t take anything away.. seems like a good solution. hopefully it will help you ! 🙂 GL!
Hi AppleBlossom271,
insane comment! Many thanks for your tweak!
